“We used Pontoonworks in 2009 for the first London ITU World Championships series. I found the team fully understanding of our needs and that of our sponsors in preparing an excellent pontoon that looked and performed brilliantly.”

The Environment

Private boathouse pontoon installation on Lake Windermere

Our key aim is to provide a comprehensive service with minimum environmental disturbance. This is often of particular relevance to our clients at restricted or historical sites where disturbance to the environment is a major consideration

Our pontoons and systems have little impact on the environment:

  • Our pontoons are made from a recyclable marine plastic
  • No chemical leaching into the water courses (like some lesser plastics)
  • The longevity of the system means we are not constantly replacing and disposing of broken units
  • Our modular system is installed without disturbing surrounding habitats
  • We can moor above ground to minimise disturbance to sensitive marine environments
  • We use biodegradable detergents for cleaning our pontoons
  • We have updated some of our vehicles to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions
  • We are currently devising an environmental policy to monitor our day to day carbon footprint so that as the company continues to grow and our workload evolves we are responsible when considering our use of resources
